Note on dating:

IK, or Iset Krekaru, the Year of the Revolution. Expressed as the number of years following the siege of Najolrecht (Earth) by the Herjonin, combined with the date as measured on the day cycle of Najolrecht. There are five periods of 73 days in each year. The date 58, 62-4 IK, for example, would be the 62nd day of the 4th period in the 58th year following the revolution.
Year Zero marks the beginning of the siege.
For reference, the siege of Najolrecht (0 IK) took place around 4120 BC.

TIMELINE OF THE HUMAN WARS

Events described here include events that transpire in the closing chapters of the book Priestess. See also the document Events leading to the Siege of Earth. That document provides a necessary history for the following events.
The Voorqhac are a vast, advanced interstellar race of aliens in control of thousands of worlds. Their republic lays claim to an area covering nearly three arms of stars in the galaxy.
The Herjonin are a revolutionary faction of Voorqhac.
The UCN (United Colonies of Naget) represents the structural body of humans allied with the Herjonin on Najolrecht, specifically those of the subcontinent Naget and the single city-base installation of Kalet Lethong. They have a presence in many Herjonin controlled systems.
Finally, the descriptions here are broad strokes and can only hint at the complexity and vastness of the events underlying them.

[176, 43-3 IK]

Six Voorqhac battle groups, part of a special task force under the direction of Admiral Rakra and the Visek Prime overfleet, penetrate Najolrecht's defenses in a lightning raid. The invasion has been assisted by several high-ranking Herjonin traitors. The Voorqhac fleets are met shy of Najolrecht and engaged by Herjonin defensive fleets and the UCN. A special contingent of Voorqhac ground troops, known as the Shin Fiq, separate from the invasion forces and descend on the unsuspecting UCN infantry battalions, taking them with little resistance. A small holding detachment is left to guard the prisoners, the rest of the Shin Fiq moving south to take the main city of Kalet Lethong.
Most phases of the traitor's plan go according to expectation, losses are minimized, and within hours the Herjonin defenders have been negotiated to a stand-off. Fighting is halted.

[176, 43-3 IK]

Not long after the opposing fleets are disengaged, an eruption of resistance occurs at the northern Julek Mountain base where troop contingents of the two UCN battalions have been imprisoned. Aided by outside elements they're freed and retake control of their mechanized units.
The UCN battalions group to begin an assault to retake the city-base Kalet Lethong in the south.

[176, 43-3 IK]

Under direction from their command centers the Herjonin elements remain neutral. The Voorqhac assault fleets converge on Najolrecht in an attempt to destroy the UCN mechanized battalions. UCN drop-ships from the Julek Mountain base fly as interceptors, engaging the Voorqhac attack. Heavy gun emplacements near Kalet Lethong are manned and drive the assault from the mechanized units as they attempt to retake the city. The two UCN main fleets assigned to the Najolrecht system break from their Herjonin counterparts and move to Najolrecht, providing a more even match against the Voorqhac capital ships.
Voorqhac Shin Fiq elements on the ground engage the advancing UCN units from the north.

[176, 43-3 IK]

Signals have gone out from periphery stations to the nearby Herjonin/UCN worlds of Anja XII, Indis and Kordec. Forces in those systems respond to the call and begin the FTL journey to reach Najolrecht.
The Herjonin leaders send orders countermanding those of the UCN periphery stations. Herjonin units turn back; UCN forces continue.

[176, 44-3 IK]

UCN mechanized battalions continue to fight the Voorqhac ground units on the fields outside Kalet Lethong, pressing them back. A series of tactical retreats push the Voorqhac to the perimeter of the city, then into the city itself. Fighting moves through Kalet Lethong. Sections are destroyed. The civilian populace, Herjonin and human alike, begins making its way to the spaceport for safe haven and evacuation.
     UCN forces reclaim Kalet Lethong.
In space, UCN forces from Anja XII arrive and are engaged by rear elements of the Voorqhac fleets. UCN forces from Indis, which had been on stand-down, arrive three hours later and join the fray. Those from Kordec arrive five hours after that. Herjonin forces in Najolrecht remain uncommitted under strict direction from local commanders. The Herjonin battalion in Kalet Lethong maintain their position, even when it is clear the city will be reclaimed by the UCN.

[176, 47-3 IK]

The traitor's strategy has fallen apart. Neither the loss of containment of the UCN, nor their independent action was anticipated.
The UCN fleets from Anja XII, Indis and Kordec in combination with the two Najolrecht fleets drive the Voorqhac invasion elements out beyond the periphery to a stand-off. Najolrecht is in a region of space tenuously held by the Herjonin and UCN. Reinforcements are within striking distance.
UCN forces on closer worlds rally to defend Najolrecht.
The nearest Voorqhac force of any strength is three days away. That fleet is called to bolster them. For the moment Najolrecht has changed hands again and is, after the short Voorqhac victory, now back under UCN control.

[176, 48-3 through 50-3 IK]

Three more UCN battle cells arrive to stand in defense of Najolrecht. The now superior UCN forces change strategy and engage a full assault on the Voorqhac forces arrayed at stand-off distance on the periphery. The Voorqhac recognize their inability to make a stand and retreat further. When the full intent of the UCN forces becomes clear, and unable to hold for their own reinforcements, the Voorqhac jump out to deep space, beyond the outermost regions of the star system.
The Herjonin in Najolrecht are now forced to commit themselves, to retreat with the Voorqhac or renew their support for the UCN. In the face of the UCN determination a mutiny of sorts occurs among them. While most of the fleets follow orders and depart the system, several elements of the Herjonin fleets remain.

[176, 52-3 IK]

Four Voorqhac battle groups have now rallied with the Voorqhac forces clustered in deep space outside the Najolrecht system, yet they determine they're still at a tactical disadvantage and so hold position.
Another two UCN battle cells arrive from the Kone region.

[176, 52-3 through 65-3]

Across the Voorqhac republic civil war is again beginning to spread. Sympathizers of the Herjonin along with other Herjonin influenced worlds rise up against the Voorqhac.
The Voorqhac Regional Command over the Najolrecht invasion armada, after discussion of the situation with Admiral Rakra and under advisement by the Herjonin traitors, sends ambassadors to the Herjonin Council of Advisors in an effort to bring all Herjonin revolutionaries back under Voorqhac control. The ambassadors are turned away with no audience. Despite the persuasive abandonment of their ideals by the majority of Herjonin in the Najolrecht system, the resolve of the Herjonin elsewhere remains solid.
Following their dismissal of the Voorqhac ambassadors orders go out from the Herjonin Council of Advisors via the High Command to activate all military elements. New directives and a new strategy emerge: Push back borders. Take Voorqhac worlds in the name of the Herjonin. Expand the revolution.
UCN forces play an active role where stationed, securing swift victories in several of the Voorqhac rim systems.
On 65-3 the Voorqhac senate orders that Najolrecht must be retaken and held, even at the expense of defense against spreading insurrection. That world has become once again the centerpoint of resistance; as long as it remains in control of the revolutionary forces their determination is more threat than all other factors combined.
Fifteen fleets from the closest Voorqhac controlled worlds are sent to assist Admiral Rakra lock it down.

[176, 68-3]

The first four of the fifteen fleets arrive on the deep periphery of Najolrecht; they group with the fleets on station under Admiral Rakra. The UCN fleets holding the system have had time to solidify their defense but are now at a strength disadvantage. Two more Voorqhac fleets will arrive in a day. Five more the day after that.
The decision is made by Rakra to engage the assault.

[176, 69-3 & 73-3]

The Voorqhac take down the UCN perimeter network of defense satellites. They continue to hold the advantage, compressing the UCN defense beyond the fourth planetary orbit (Mars). Two more Voorqhac fleets arrive, then five more.
Strategic elements from the Voorqhac are enroute to the Herjonin frontier, traveling via singularity gates from as far away as the Core Worlds. Unrest continues throughout the republic, but the majority of Herjonin forces are concentrated at the frontier and among the Client States of the Third and Fourth Arms. While the Voorqhac senate tries not to acknowledge the significance of the revolution war has, unofficially, been declared.

[176, 1-4]

UCN forces in Najolrecht have held. The Voorqhac fleets are now deep within the system but unable to secure the key world. Eight more Voorqhac fleets have been tasked and are timed to arrive over the next few days.
UCN and a few Herjonin forces within striking distance that can be spared are enroute to Najolrecht on word of the Voorqhac success.
Several UCN battle cells otherwise tasked by the Herjonin High Command break to come to the direct aid of their brothers.

[176, 2-4]

After four days of meetings on the isolated world Esceria Kom the Herjonin Confederacy is formed. The Confederacy more tightly aligns all factions, including those independents sympathetic to the Herjonin cause, under the existing Council and Herjonin High Command. As part of this delegates from the UCN pledge an alliance with the new Confederacy, but abstain from membership, instead declaring themselves a fully independent human state.
In Najolrecht the first three of eight Voorqhac fleets in transit to the system arrive and the attack is once again pressed. It becomes clear to the UCN holding forces that this time they will not withstand the assault.

[176, 2-4 through 5-4]

The four remaining Voorqhac fleets in transit arrive. Three more UCN battle cells and one Herjonin fleet arrive a day later but are too late and insufficient in number.
The UCN defense is collapsed back to the planet and defeated in orbit. Voorqhac elements make planetfall, engaging the UCN ground forces at Kalet Lethong. On 3-4 UCN and Herjonin ground forces are overpowered and driven beyond the city's perimeter. Air support has vanished as the UCN fleets have also been pressed back. They are forced to watch as the Voorqhac shred Kalet Lethong with a rain of antimatter shells. Following that, traces of the city are vaporized during fly-overs conducted by Voorqhac gunships.
Three more Herjonin fleets have reached Najolrecht and, combined with the remaining UCN and Herjonin units in retreat on the periphery, stage a final raid on the world of Najolrecht, fighting their way to the surface long enough to extract their ground forces. Once clear of the planet's gravity well they jump to FTL, departing the system and leaving the Voorqhac in control.
On 176, 5-4 Voorqhac admiral Rakra reclaims Najolrecht in the name of the Voorqhac republic and flies the flag on the razed plateau where Kalet Lethong once stood.

[176, 8-4 through 16-4]

More Voorqhac forces arrive, system defense units from the Strategic elements that have begun arriving on the Herjonin frontier. Najolrecht is secured solidly against any UCN or Herjonin assault, and has in fact become a heavily fortified staging point for the Voorqhac.
The Voorqhac begin to organize raids against Herjonin worlds from within their controlled space.

Over several more weeks many Herjonin systems are taken by the massing Voorqhac Strategic elements, even as Voorqhac worlds within the republic fall to the spreading civil war.
From this point the UCN plays less and less of a role as the widely sprinkled revolution intensifies, splitting even within itself until the entire Voorqhac republic is at war. On Najolrecht the Voorqhac put down several attempted coups by the native humans, remnants of the UCN, expending much effort to root them out and render them passive.
An overview of these events appears in The One. More items of interest appear in the document History of Common Space and trace a continuing line of humanity to present.
Najolrecht was eventually abandoned. Genocide was never undertaken, nor was any effort to destroy the planet outright. When all were gone and the Voorqhac republic was at last collapsed only the natives of Najolrecht remained.
     They and their legends.
